Dr Oluwole Kunuji

Dr. Kunuji is a Constitutional and International Law expert with a First Class (Honours) undergraduate Law Degree. He holds a Master of Public International Law (LLM) Degree from the University of Cambridge UK where he was a Commonwealth and Cambridge Trust Scholar from 2010 to 2011. From 2013 to 2017, he was an AG Leventis and Chancellor’s International Research Scholar at the University of Warwick, UK from where he obtained his Ph.D in Federal Constitutional Law. In 2014, Dr. Kunuji was an International Bar Association Scholar at the International Human Rights Certificate Program of the Florida State University US.

Dr. Kunuji is a member of several scholarly and professional bodies, and his articles have appeared in several scholarly Journals and periodicals. He has also organized and attended several law seminars and conferences. From 2021 to 2023, Dr. Kunuji was the Editor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Journal of International Law and Diplomacy and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Yearbook of International Law, a periodical that focuses on third world approaches to International Law. He is an Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.

Dr. Kunuji is the Executive Director of the Lex Lata Centre for International Law and Comparative Constitutionalism in Africa, a foremost research organisation dedicated to promoting Africa- oriented research in the fields of International and Constitutional Law. In his capacity as Executive Director of this organisation, Dr. Kunuji has led several research projects in Federal Constitutional Law, Comparative Constitutional Law, Democratic Constitution-Making, Public International Law, African Union Law, and Law of the ECOWAS sub-region.

In 2022, Dr. Kunuji was awarded the Provost’s Research Fellowship at the University of Toronto, Canada to conduct a large comparative research project on democratic constitution-making and public governance in selected African States. The Provost’s Research Fellowship is one of Canada's most prestigious research awards, usually given to outstanding scholars who demonstrate exceptional promise for future academic and research leadership.

Dr. Kunuji has advised Governments, international organisations, and corporate entities on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious Constitutional and International Law issues including Constitution Making, Democracy, and Structuring/Restructuring of Federal Constitutions. He has also taught and conducted research on constitutional and international law at Universities in Africa, Europe and North America.
